Solution For Future
|
Availability of
land for disposal of municipal waste via land filling is getting scarce
hence resulting in perpetual increase in operation cost. Furthermore,
utilizing landfills as a means for waste disposal raises the question of
degradability of the waste and possibility of ground water
contamination. Uncontrolled emission of landfill gases as a result of
chemical reaction of various waste buried may cause explosions and other
disasters which is simply unacceptable.
Wise decisions have to be made to ensure our future generations will
continue to be blessed with the environment that we are enjoying now.
Reducing the volume of municipal solid waste through incineration with
the state of the art air pollution control systems is an effective
method for waste management.
PESB’s incineration plant will not only reduce the volume of the waste,
it also offers to recover the heat released from the waste for useful
purposes such as producing steam for the production of electricity and
hot water for industrial processes
Valuable materials recovered from the waste steam. Pre-treated materials
that are unsuitable for recycling are rendered inert through
incineration in the incineration plant.
The remaining
ashes and combustion residues will then be sent to the sanitary
landfills for proper disposal. The ashes is anticipated to be about one
tenth of the original volume of the waste before incineration

Equipment & Process
Description
Municipal Solid Waste
Incineration with Rotary Kiln Technology (AMMWIS)
PE*RK incineration furnaces with rotary kiln technology ensures reliability
and substantial volumetric reduction of municipal waste. Our basis is a
well-proven technology built upon extensive experience and renowned regional
experiences.

Combustion
Technologies
|
|
|

Rotary Kiln Furnace |
- Made of mild steel casing lined
internally with refractory and insulation concrete.
- Operates under excess air mode
Temperature to be maintained between 600° C to 800° C for efficient
combustion.
- Kiln will be rotated using
variable speed geared motor. Rotating Speed can be adjusted to provide
optimum performance.
- Heat recovered from the air to
air heat exchanger will supply pre-heated fresh air
|
- Operates in the range of 800° C
– 1000° C to ensure complete combustion of volatile organic carbons
- Cyclonic in nature to ensure
trapping of fly ashes.
- Variable speed blower to
maintain excess air and oxygen level.
- Complete combustion is further
ensured by having the flue gas entering the after burner at a
tangential angle while the flames from the burners are being
discharged in the opposite direction.
- Retention time of gases is
designed to be more that 2 seconds.
- Lined with refractory and
insulation concrete.
|

After Burner |
Waste Heat Recovery
|
|
|

Gas to Gas heat exchanger |
- Made of stainless steel for
efficient heat transfer and to withstand the corrosive gases.
- The waste heat from the flue
gas will be harnessed by the heat exchanger and transferred to produce
hot clean air for the primary combustion chamber
- The temperature of the flue gas
after the heat exchanger will be about 500° C, while the temperature
of the hot clean air will be raised to about 300° C
|
Air Pollution Control
|
|
PE wet scrubber
features a combination of ventury and tower packed type of scrubber.
Flue gas will be quenched to about 80° C at the ventury portion prior to
entering the tower packed scrubber. Sodium hydroxide is used to as the
solution to neutralize the acidic gases and to trap the particulate.
Poly-propelene media is used to enhance the surface contact between the
fine droplets and the flue gas.
Main Features:
- Made of Stainless Steel
- Equipped with automatic pH
controller
- Stainless Steel nozzles to
produce fine droplets
- for efficient absorption
- Minimal clogging risk
- Minimal pressure drop and low
power
- consumption
- Multistage and Modular for ease
of erection

Wet Scrubber |
Auxiliary Equipment
|
|
|

Induced Draft Fan |
- The ID fan is selected to
maintain negative pressure within the system and to channel the flue
gases into the atmosphere via the chimney.
- The ID fan is selected to
withstand temperature of at least 350 ° C.
|
- The chimney is made of
stainless steel 304 for durability
- The height of the chimney will
be determined upon conducting the site investigation. In any case, the
chimney height shall not be lower than 9 meters.
- Cat ladder and safety railing
will be provided at the sampling point for ease and safe maintenance
of the flue gas analyzers.
Other Equipment :
PESB takes the responsibility to incorporate, coordinate and ensures
trouble free operation of the system. The other equipment are:
- Weighing Station
- Waste Shredder
- Residue Collector / conveyor
- Residue Storage

Chimney |
Instrument & Control - SCADA
|
|
|

System Automation |
- AMMWIS Incinerator is equipped
with complete automation with on line monitoring and control from the
operator station.
- Operating parameters and
sequence of operation can be varied for the most optimum operating
conditions.
- The incinerator is equipped
with real time flue gas monitoring using delicate and high accuracy
analyzers.
- Historical operating data will
automatically be acquired using sophisticated software.
- Remote diagnosis as well as on
line support for trouble shooting.
- System security via highly
classified passwords.
